... " I got my moneys worth this weekend, this months Council Tax was well worth it !" ...
Its not often you get something for free these days ! A day or night out with the family nearly always means ' Bring ya wallet '
However this weekend was the exception to the rule.
Friday Night and we are off to the big switch on to the Blackpool Illuminations. It was held on Bonney Street car park behind the main Police station down town. I went with Pam, Kelsey, Jemma and my sister Treena and as we got there it just started to rain. Not to worry I thought as I put my hood up on my coat and dam to the street cred !
The rain came down but we had a good time and there was some acts on to see before the light switch was thrown. Appearing there was the Zutons, Ronan Keating, Peter Kay, Duncan James, Heather Small, Chico (Luckily we missed him
) and some other people who I didn't really know.
Peter Kay was a laugh and came up with the same gags "Its spitting - everybody in" "Turn that big light on" "Garlic bread" - when will he write some new material ?
Now it was the time for the big switch on and which big star did they get to turn on the lights, Tom Cruise ? Angelina Jolie ? Robbie Williams ? - no they got old amber face himself .... Dale Winton
Still as I have mentioned already, the night was free and on Blackpool Borough Council. The light switch was thrown and Blackpool Tower lit up - hurray.. the Illuminations were officially on.
Saturday Night and I took the family through the Illuminations in the car. We started at Red bank road and ended at the far end past the Pleasure Beach at Stargate. This time the Children didn't fall asleep as they had done in the past when they were younger.
In time honoured tradition we stopped at a chippy on the way back home and had a chip supper, this seems to be the done thing after a trip around the lights. To see some photos of last years trip Click Here
Sunday Night was the start of the World Firework Championships, a competition between firework companies from around the globe. These fireworks were set off from North Pier and were viewable anywhere along the promenade really. We enjoyed ourselves watching the owesome display which lastest for a non stop 13 minutes - mustcostafurtune !
Well thats my free weekend on Blackpool - thanks a lot
Happy blogging folks ‹(•¿•)›
