Yah what you need is a recumbent bike. WAY cooler than an uptight/upright bike, extremely laid back for the rider, and cools the plumbing rather nicely while peddaling.

EdB, those do look kinda cool. I was watching a video of one and they look like they would take some getting used too though ! All for 'cool plumbing' on a hot summers day. The breeze blowing across your never-lands is always a refreshing change. :p

Yeah recumbents take a bit of a learning curve, but really there ain't no better way to bicycle. Tell ya what else: if you're riding just to get fit you won't ride much unless you decide it's also fun. 'bents make riding fun! Check it out: your eyeballs are right at boobie level. Cool plumbing and a great view - hooray!

So the thing is don't think of it as a regular bike. I used to give a 3 minute speech to people to get them rolling on a recumbent on the first try. Basically it goes like this: completely relax your upper body and never ever tense up. When you think you're gonna tip over cuz you're going so slow (initial roll) DO NOT TENSE UP! Just push the damned pedals around and make the bike roll forward a bit faster. Start with your strong leg pulled all the way back so you can get one really big heave to get 'er rolling, and lean back, and relax, and don't ever tense up. If it gets too weird just put your feet down and you'll find yourself in a very natural very comfortable seated position ... and try again.

Oh and I don't like the short wheel base ones. If you go for it you should really look into long recumbents. Shorties are good for speed. Long ones are good for comfort riding.

Cheers for that Ed, I have only had the bike a year or two but next time I need a new one, who knows ! I can't say I have seen any being peddled over here yet, but trends catch on quickly - don't they :)

Take it easy,
Gz ;)
