Kelsey and Jemma, this one's mainly for you !
I was reading the paper at lunchtime and I saw an article about these hairless Guinea Pigs, this lead me to look on Google, where I found these pictures.
A bizarre guinea pig created for lab test more than 30 years ago is Britain's latest must-have designer pet.
The bald, hairless Skinny Pigs are changing hands for up to £150. There are even waiting lists of animal lovers desperate to own one.
Skinny Pigs need strong suncream plastered on them in the summer and a woolly jumper in the winter.
They eat three times more than a normal hairy guinea pig and their dry skin requires moisturising.
Skinny Pigs were created by scientists using mutated genes in the 1970's and their bare skin was used for dermatological experiments.
I love the ginger goaty beard this one has in the first photo below.
Zoe, The breeder of the Skinny Pigs that were featured in the paper that I read, contacted me on my blog and with her permission has allowed me to show the following photo's that she kindly emailed to me.
Please take a look at her website Precious Skinnies , its great and has lots of photo's and all about these wonderful Skinny Pigs and how they are breed.
